| Framing for the shower basin is complete. Notice that I extended the exterior wall by an extra stud thickness because the shower drain lined up directly over the floor joist. When the original bathtub was installed, they had cut out part of the floor joist to accommodate the drain. I wasn't comfortable further weakening the floor joist at the other end of the bathroom, so I decided to move the new shower basin, and thus the drain, inward. (The original bathtub drained at the south end. The new shower basin drains at the north end.) |
