Remodeling Project

Bathroom

Timeframe: Early Summer to Late Fall 2020

Everything in the bathroom will be replaced. The olive drab bathtub, sink, and toilet have been out of style for a long time. They were 44 years old and were showing signs of wear, as expected. The bathtub is being replaced with a tub-size shower basin with an integrated seat. The vanity base needs a lot of rehab, so a new one will be installed.

As you will see, the floor was about 1/2" (13 mm) lower just inside the doorway. So I fixed that by applying a layer of skim-coat. I also move in the shower basin inward by 3.5" (one stud) to move the drain away from the floor joist. This reduced the bathroom size a bit, but structurally I felt it was the right thing to do.
