Bathroom Window Replacement

The new window is not as tall as the original window. So, I had to raise the bottom about 14". Why did we change the size of the window? There will be a deck on the back side of the house that will extend under this window. Linda stood in the bathtub and explained where the bottom of the window should be :-).
