This is a view of the Laundry Room / Pantry from the kitchen (looking south toward the garage). This doorway originally had a bi-fold door (it's in the background next to the garage door), which opened to the left into the kitchen. We decided to replace it with a pocket door. This required tearing out another wall, installing a beam, posts, squash blocks, and enhancing the wall in the basement to carry the load. The pocket door will slide open to the left because the washing machine plumbing is inside the wall on the right side of the door. Therefore, the soffit and cabinet will be removed (and not replaced).

I know what you're thinking ... why is the trash can elevated? Yellow Labs. Unfortunately, we had to put down the last of the old labs in May 2019. As they say, old habits die hard.

(I'll let you contemplate the logic of the spray bottle near the stove and the generator in the laundry room.)
